OK so my opinion on this is Reidy comes off as pompus. He basically states don't change anything then does so himself while claiming it was unnecessary to have those steps included. So why is it OK for him to do it but not me? Why was it OK for the Egyptians but not us modern Kemetics?To give the positive of this book its excellently researched and sited. I've found many inspirations for my own rituals which I want to write more of. I don't care if its 100% accurate or not. The religion of the Egyptians was never static and I have no problems in continuing the flow.Some have claimed his writting style as preachy and yes, it can be. I wouldn't recommend this book to a new student. It's definitely more intermediate level.Most rituals in here are dedicated to Amun-Ra but rituals to Sekhmet, Set and a few others have been included as well.
More  and more  people are finding inspiration in the ancient religious concepts of the Ancient Egyptians.  THere gods are coming to life again it would seem, after being put away for so long of a time. The Jewish Talmud states that God gave 10 measures of magic to the world, 9 of those he gave to Egypt and one he gave to the rest of the world.MAny groups and people have sought to worship or work with the Ancient Deities but never in an Egyptian way. Wicca and Ceremonial Magick tried to combing it with Judeo-Christian concepts and according to the author that is not the way to go with Egyptian Gods. Other more modern groups are studying the Ancient Egyptian texts and adapting it to modern times.One such group is the Temple of Ra in San Francisco. is one such group. Richard Reiedy a member of the group is the author of this book. A sad shame that he passed on too Amenti earlier in 2015This book is a compilation of rituals for use in Modern day. Certain modification have been made to keep things current and acceptable. Many of them are daily rituals.  THere are mooring rituals for greeting Re. An evining ritual to honor Hathor. Egyptian ritual is not about praying to a god and that is it. There is an emphasis on purity and right living and living in accord with Maat, or truth.  THe rituals are complex but people will want to do them. THey are loaded with psychic power due to having been done so much. That power can be accessed for results. The spoken word is powerful. WHen doing rituals Priest of participant will perform the ritual as though they are a god.I may not do things the way the author does but I will make modification based on what I read. Truly a good book for those wanting to follow the Kemetic way.
What an incredible piece of work by an almost unknown author. The dedication it takes to produce such a tremendous set of practices for the modern Kemetic simply boggles the mind. An excellent writer, Reidy's commentary is not only erudite, but approachable, with plenty of references. The practices themselves are described in great detail, and are indeed as authentic as it gets for the 21st century Kemetic.
This book is highly recommended to anyone interested in ritual orthopraxy within Kemeticism. This book will allow you to form the rituals necessary to start practicing. It can be a bit difficult to understand at first, but it is definitely worth your time and effort.
Fascinating look into the religious life of ancient Kemet! This book somehow manages to straddle that difficult line between engaging, for moderate enthusiasts, and easy to digest, for those new to the subject matter. As someone who frequently reads books on this topic (but is in no way an expert!) I was delighted to find that I was learning new information. I would certainly recommend Eternal Egypt to anyone who is interested in the subject!
A well written and compiled tome that includes rituals and instruction lifted directly from Ancient Kemetic sources themselves.Concise, to the point, and a must for your library if authentic Kemetic ritual is your interest.
This is an amazing book for any one that wants to use Egyptian rituals in the modern era. Richard Reidy is a wonderful scholar with a very readable writing style. Richard uses rituals taken from temple walls and provides commentary that helps a modern practitioner to use and understand these rituals in their homes. This book clearly shows and provides rituals that are effective as well as very meaningful. I highly recommend this book to any one who wants to practice as authenically as possible!
